ich liebe Deutschland..

Just came back from a 10 day trip to Germany.. and oh boy,do i miss that place? The answer is yes! I had been there a couple of years back and this trip made me feel very nostalgic about the previous one...It was a very strange feeling because the last time i was waiting to come back to india and now i was equally excited to go there again!! Guess travelling alone makes you think crazy stuff..
Though i am not a big fan of football, I was lucky to be there during the Euro 2008..Cricket is a passion in India and Cricketers are worshipped.I felt the same mania in Germany during the Germany Vs. Turkey semis.. saw the match on giant screen and it was an out of the world experience...went to a Kloster(monastery in deutsch) and to a cute, little place called Eltville...walked along the rhine river, took a million photographs in the rosegarden, ate Brezel(pronounced as Pretxel) with Goat cheese(being a vegetarian is tough)...
Germans really know how to live their life. The shops close by 8PM on weekdays and no shops are open on Sundays.Family is of higher priority to them..you can see people relaxing, travelling to remote places and taking long vacations which is quite rare in India.I feel people in India are more inclined towards making money and mess up all relations in this process. Its time to realise that there is much more to life than money!! Ok..back to Germany..Unlike last time(the earlier trip to Germany requires another post and a loong one that too),this time, the amount of travel was almost negligible..Of course, the trip ended in a surprise- Casino. Going to a Casino for the first time in my life was definitely an experience of a lifetime.. Well, i dunno how the casinos in Las Vegas look but definitely this one was the most elegant and magnificiently done place i have ever been to!! it was more than my expectations i must say..Tall paintings, Red Carpeted floor,Gorgeous ladies formally dressed with hats and walking sticks(a la Titanic), Men immacutely clean..Alas! Photography is prohibited....played Roulette(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roulette) and was excited that i got back whatever money i had put in..not that a loss would have disheartened me or something but the experience in itself was awesome and the game was addictive which was why I decided to pull out soon :)
The day came when i had to board my flight back to India..this time again i had mixed feelings..excited about meeting friends, being with people you know..and again leaving a place which doesnt seem strange to you anymore..
Someday i would definitely return to this place with someone I know to cherish the place better...till then ich liebe Deutschland :)

Music Mania

For a long time,I have wondered about the magic of music and how it can soothe anyone's soul, change your mood, liven you up and make your day!
I prefer to start my day in office with what i call 'suprabhathams'. I must have heard the same set of songs a million times but they really help me get into the mood of working. for e.g. A peppy number would really push my spirits high and i get all enthued...Well, its really hard to imagine a world without music. It is another means of communication, form of an expression, an art. No language barriers, no bias just plain music. I am sure each of us would have some memories attached to a zillion songs as well..I remember when i was in the 3rd year, songs from the movie 'Boys' were played day in and day out in my wing.Even now when i happen to hear one of those songs, i recollect those wonderful days....
I read this quote somewhere-
“Music speaks what cannot be expressed, soothes the mind and gives it rest, heals the heart and makes it whole, flows from heaven to the soul.”- Anonymous

Such is the power of Music!

10 things to do in bangalore during weekends!

Bangalore has become very boring off late and this 'bored' feeling made me write this post. For all you people out there who feel the same, try these..
1) pick a nice book and read
2) watch all the reality shows which are being aired on TV over and over again..
3) go to brew haha - a place which offers a lot of board games to play and also food :) ..interesting!!
4) a long drive on mysore road ( lovely road..might be tiring and cold during nights)
5) window shopping ( a good option considering the number of malls in blore)
6) watch movies back to back in rex ( it has to be rex..the other multiplexes are freaking expensive!)
7) bowling (you need to book in advance to avoid waiting for long hours)
8) cook innovative stuff
9) join salsa/music classes
10) yap/gossip sessions with friends..
